Residents of Taylor Lakes say their HOA won’t meet, leaving them to organize without official support. The lack of communication prevents both community improvements and city assistance.
HOA Won’t Meet, Leaving Residents in Limbo
Taylor Lakes residents told the city council their HOA hasn’t held a meeting in years. They’ve had to meet on their own. The neighborhood falls under Councilman Oronde Mitchell’s district. He says he has also struggled to contact the HOA for two years.
Mitchell explained that he and a city staffer have tried to arrange meetings, but the HOA never responded. He said the HOA’s silence prevents him from supporting the community. He can’t fund neighborhood improvements without HOA cooperation.
Without a meeting, residents can’t share concerns or update outdated bylaws and covenants. Mitchell said holding regular meetings helps residents stay informed about rules and share feedback with the board.
He plans to email the HOA again. If they still don’t respond, he will call on them to report to the council. The city attorney told residents they may need to take legal action if the HOA remains inactive.
The HOA did not respond to requests for comment after the meeting.
