A local homeowner addressed the Pioneer rural water district this week about repeated water line leaks. The issue has led to numerous road repairs, and the homeowner sought a more permanent solution.
Problems With Pioneer Rural Water District
The president of the Parkview South Homeowners’ Association has been a Pioneer Rural Water District customer for 20 years. He reported five leaks on his property and several others along South Shore Drive.
The homeowner expressed concern over the frequent repairs and the impact on the neighborhood’s roads. The concern stems from the fact that the community is planning to resurface them. He asked if a long-term solution could be implemented to prevent further leaks, rather than continuing to patch the water line.
Pioneer Rural Water District’s general manager acknowledged the problem. He mentioned the district has been gathering quotes for a pressure-reducing valve (PRV) and considering relocating the PRV to the front of the neighborhood. Additionally, they are exploring the possibility of replacing the entire water line in the subdivision.
The homeowner then raised concerns about the method of installation for the new line. He asked whether they would need to completely dig up the road or if they could use directional boring. The general manager confirmed that they planned to excavate the road.
Both parties agreed to coordinate on the timing and execution of the project. The district hopes the new line will resolve the issue of frequent leaks.
