Living in Community Associations can create numerous questions and concerns for an owner. Getting involved with your Association is a great way to obtain information and get questions answered. Some say, “If you’re not involved, you have no right to gripe”. The entire Community reaps the benefits and rewards of a well-run Association when owners get involved.
One of the most beneficial ways to become involved is to attend meetings. Attending meetings allows one to learn how the Board of Directors governs your Association. Your Board is responsible for the maintenance, upkeep, financial management, and over-all well being of your Association. This is the perfect time to ask questions or voice concerns about specific issues in your Community that the Board may be discussing or voting on. You will be able to identify if the Board is making decisions for the common good of the Community.
Joining a committee is also a good way of staying informed about your Community. Committees provide a forum for discussing ideas and voicing concerns. Consider how your personal knowledge, skills, and experience can benefit the Community. Committees allow you to interact with your neighbors, form new relationships, and exchange thoughts.
So get involved in some manner within your Community. Get questions answered and get educated along the way.
